Gotham Men | Men still looking for elusive first win after 2-1 loss to OTPHJ F.C.
Gotham Men entered their fifth game of the season still looking for a win against OTPHJ F.C. The game was very even throughout. Lots of chances and possession for either side. Gotham Men conceded the first goal, but quickly equalized through Bradley Ferrada’s shot from the left side into the right bottom corner.
The second half threw lots of curve balls at Gotham Men as they had two players come off with injuries, thus making them use all their substitutions. With all remaining health players on the pitch, Gotham Men did what they could to prevent OTPHJ F.C. from scoring. They found ways to create a few chances of their own as well. It was one of those games that was completely up for grabs, one goal is all it would have taken to best the other side. In the end OTPHJ’s striker proved too much to handle for Gotham Men as he found the back of the net to give OTPHJ F.C. the goal they needed to win. 2-1 the final score and another defeat for Gotham Men. Despite the win-less streak many are impressed with the team’s progress and feel that it is only a matter of time before this team catches fire.
“It’s just a confidence thing,” said Sherief El-Helaifi, “We just need need one success to boost our confidence. We’re not worse than the other teams.”
Mike Kownacki agreed, saying “Attitude is very good. Everyone is owning up and speaking up. Simon’s doing a great job leading the group and contributing as well on the field.”
By the sound of this team’s confidence, you wouldn’t think they haven’t won a game yet this season. Coach Simon and his team will look to finally end their drought next Thursday May 5th against NYC Egypt.
Group Stage | Group Stage win in 10 goal thriller
Group Stage set out to get three points against Brooklyn Bandits. In a stunning 10 goal thriller, Group Stage came away with the spoils. They won the game 6-4 with goals from Luye Murphy, Mackenzie Riley, and Bryant Gutierrez. An excellent shift was also put in by Anton Scott, but truly this was a team effort. Group Stage’s next game will be on April 30th against City Foxes.
NYC Footy | NYC Footy win big over House of Red Cards
NYC Footy came out ready to avenge their loss to Oscar Health last week as they played House of Red Cards. Early on in the game, NYC Footy struck first after Christian Martin forced an own goal by House of Red Cards, giving NYC Footy a 1-0 lead. Cesar Perez found the net for the second goal, giving the team a 2-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half disaster struck for Christian Martin as he had to be moved to goalkeeper due to an injury to his foot. The game carried on as chances came for both sides. Eventually towards the end of the game Ryoma Morisaki slotted home the third goal for NYC Footy. The cherry on top of a wonderful team performance. Steven Kang was highlighted as the Man of the Match for his work in defense. We’d like to wish Christian Martin a speedy recovery and a return to playing soon.
NYC Footy’s next game will be on May 1st against Tumblr F.C.
NYC Footy 2 | NYC Footy League fall to Tune Squad 4-3
Looking to bounce back after a 3-0 loss to FA United, NYC Footy League 2 came out strong against their opponents, Tune Sqaud. Two quick goals from Bradley Ferrada assisted by Miguel Rojas would give the boys in blue a 2-0 lead. The first was on a switch play from Miguel to Bradley, a touch and a shot from close range sealed the deal. The second goal came when Bradley played Miguel through the defensive line. Miguel then squared it up for Bradley who notched his second. Beyond went in up 2-0 at halftime.
The second half was a different story for Beyond. They would allow one goal, making it 2-1, but then quickly answer on a goal from Kwame King. 3-1. From there it seemed Beyond’s day was done. They allowed 3 more goals in the second half, unanswered. The final score was 4-3 as Beyond couldn’t quite wrap it up.
They will look to snap this losing streak two weeks from now on May 8th against Gotham F.C.
Gotham Women | Gotham Women prepare for next match.
Gotham Women are preparing for their next game against Appletown on Tuesday May 3rd. They are coming off a 1-1 draw with Ruelers a week ago. In that game Jean Bagtasos put in a great shift for her team. She was recognized as the Jawea Player of the Week for last week’s game. We’d like to congratulate Jean on this accomplishment and thank her for giving her all to Beyond F.C.’s Gotham Women. You can check out the post on Instagram.
